His kidneys, brain, liver and intestines are now positioned and beginning to function. Although these organs are now in place, they still need to develop to aid in the growth of your baby.

You will be glad to know that your baby’s fingers no longer have webbing. His fingers have formed individually and the nails are coming out on both toes and fingers. Tiny hair is also growing on his skin!

By this time, your child already knows how to bend his limbs. He can already angle his hands at the wrist and put them over his chest. HIs feet are long already that he can have them positioned ahead of his body.

HIs spine outline has already appeared and this can be seen clearly through his skin. Even his spinal nerves are starting to form throughout his spinal cord. There is already a bulge on his forehead which indicates that his brain is developing and already positioned on where it should be.

The pulsation of your baby’s heart.

You probably cannot wait to have your next visit to your doctor. At 10 weeks, you are very close to that stage when you can hear the heartbeat of your baby.  Using a handheld ultrasound device called Doppler, you will be able to listen to your child’s heartbeat. Listening to the pulsation of the heart of your very own child is a very touching moment. It’s definitely one of the most unforgettable milestones you will treasure for the rest of your life.

Your uterus is already the size of a grapefruit. This means, you can wear a maternity dress now! In case you do not feel like wearing this type of clothing just yet, you can still go for your regular clothes but make sure you wear only those that you are comfortable with.

If you notice that your upper undergarments are beginning to get tighter, do not be in denial! You are really gaining weight and starting to get bloated and it’s all normal.

Fitness activities for expectant moms.

In case you are a fitness buff, you can still participate in fitness activities even when you are 10 weeks pregnant. Swimming and walking are great choices. You can actually perform these activities until you reach your 9th month. Swimming and walking help tone the muscle. These activities also build strength and endurance, which you seriously need to cope up with the amount of weight you will gain throughout your pregnancy. Exercising while pregnant makes it easier for you to get slimmer after giving birth.

Common infections women acquire when pregnant.

Pregnancy at 10 weeks makes you more prone to infection. You have to be aware how you can get rid of the most common infections that women suffer from when they are pregnant. These infections include Urinary Tract Infection, Yeast Infection and Bacterial Vaginosis. Your doctor will surely discuss these matters to you. Follow you doctor’s advice, be extra hygienic and eat the right food to completely eliminate your chances of acquiring these infections.

These infections can put your pregnancy at risk. You can even have pre-term labor because of these conditions. Immediately discuss with your doctor if you are experiencing any of the symptoms of these infections. The treatment of these infections usually involves intake of antibiotic. Take your doctor’s advice on taking antibiotics and be mindful of the dosage you take. Be guided by the doctor’s prescription.
