Obviously there are many written and online materials about learning english for kids out there, but you should start exposing your child to a foreign language, like english,  while he is still young. Familiarization makes him comfortable with it. Don’t try to force your child to learn a second language. Doing it without an indication that he is ready to learn English will only make him resistant.

Teaching English to kids – Helpful Tips

DO NOT try to be overly persistent

Many Moms and Dads believe that one of the best ways to learn English kids is by using this language at home. While there are some parents who can attest that this is an effective approach, there are some who think it is a poor technique. There are kids who become frustrated about it that they tend to demonstrate preference for their first language. Persistently using the English language at home with can only lead to your child becoming uneasy with the foreign language, especially when it makes communicating with his parents difficult.

As parents, you should know how significant communication is between you and your kids. Supposing your child is showing annoyance or frustration when you speak to him using the English language, make use of your native tongue instead. Recognize that your child has to be at ease communicating with you.

Demonstrate how much you enjoy the English language

Any English lessons for kids are not likely to work well if you do not show your kids how much you enjoy the language. Your child is observing you from a distance. For your child to be interested in the English language, you have to show him how wonderful it is to learn it.

Speak English to your – DO NOT force him to respond in English

You may go on speaking English but give your child freedom to respond in the language he prefers. You may also give it a different approach by speaking to your child in English but not in a way that requires him to answer back. Simple sentences like “Please hand me the book”, or “Take your seat” will expose him to the language.

DO find great influencers that your child will enjoy

There are several English media which you can use for young children. You can ask them to watch a DVD where they can listen to the English language and see attractive images. You will notice that during the first few weeks, your child is just silently watching it. Soon enough he will start speaking the language. Exposure like this will make your child speak the language at his own pace. Other great instruments that can make learning English enjoyable for the little ones are flashcards and puppets.

Make learning English for Kids a positive experience

Do not be overwhelmed by your desire to make your child learn English. Do not ever pressure or push him too hard. You have to make his English lessons a pleasing experience and not the kind that will traumatize him.

Try not to show disappointment when he fails to get the lesson. Do not forget to praise your child when he starts speaking the language.

Before you start teaching English to your kids, ask yourself if you are really up for it. Determine if your child is also ready for its challenge. You have to understand that teaching English is not easy. Kids do not learn English overnight. It requires a great deal of patience and you have to unleash all your creative juices to make the little ones engaged in learning English.

While teaching kids the English language can be very challenging, the reward that both parents and child can get afterwards is truly satisfying.

Individuals who are able to learn English at a young age are proven to have better linguistics as they age. They are likely to be more creative and capable to solve problems. They have better memory and multi-tasking abilities, too.

Studies show that people who learned English at a young age perform better in school. These are individuals who excel in the class given the cognitive benefits acquired from learning English.
